Through mentoring, tutoring, athletic events and community outreach volunteer opportunities, DBS empowers our young people to steer their own futures in a positive direction.
DBS is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit, and all donations to DBS support our programs. Generous donations enable us to offer scholarships to our summer sports camps and they sustain our weekly mentoring and sports training programs.
Douglas Parker, founder, formed the vision of DBS nearly 10 years ago! In the last three years, DBS has established a firm foothold in the community with consistent involvement in the community and highly anticipated annual events.
The vision for Delray Beach Sports Exhibitors began when Douglas Parker, founder, was a 14-year-old Counselor-in-Training at the after school and summer programs at Pompey Park in Delray Beach.
Doug came from a family with strict boundaries, warm love, consistency and predictability, good meals, and encouragement to do well in school and sports. He had everything he needed. But Doug recognized that many of his friends and the younger children at the camp were missing many of those advantages.
When Doug returned home from college, he was reminded of all the advantages that enabled him to get a college degree. And he recalled that he was one of the lucky few. Doug spoke with his friends, John Louis and Jamelle Murray, and they also shared his vision.
Each had felt inspired to apply the education he obtained as a result of his fortunate upbringing to serve and impact the youth of Delray Beach. They recognized that the picture of the future was incomplete for many children, but that they had the missing puzzle pieces.
The mission of Delray Beach Sports Exhibitors is to teach youth, how education & sports together can make them productive members of their community.
